About Traumatic Oral Injuries
Any facial trauma can potentially damage your teeth, gums, tongue, lips, or jaw, and these oral injuries often require immediate attention. Traumatic injuries may cause cracked teeth, avulsed (knocked-out) or dislodged (extruded) teeth, cuts on the gums, or even jaw damage. These emergency situations call for expert endodontic care to maintain and protect the future of your oral health. At Storrs Endodontics and Periodontics, we offer immediate urgent dental care for these and other dental emergencies. If you or someone you love have experienced a traumatic injury, call our Storrs, CT office and receive care as soon as possible.

Traumatic Injury treatment
Our team will determine the appropriate treatment based on the type and severity of the traumatic injury. Digital x-rays may be required to better understand the extent of the damage. For children with permanent teeth where the root has not fully formed and the internal pulp has been exposed or injured, endodontic treatments, like apexogenesis and apexification, may be required. In the case of extruded teeth or avulsed teeth, our team will attempt to replant the tooth into its socket. After your initial appointment, our team will go over any aftercare instructions you may require and schedule follow-up visits to ensure your healing progress. If you or your family member play sports, then we might recommend a custom mouth guard to prevent future injuries.
