What are digital x-rays?
Digital x-rays or radiographs are administered with an annual dental examination to provide a more thorough picture of your mouth. They allow our professionals to diagnose problems that aren't easily visible and to understand more about the health of the inside of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. There are many dental and oral conditions that may be diagnosed with digital images, including decay, cavities, cysts, abscesses, bone loss, and tooth impaction. When these conditions are identified in the early stages, they may have more effective and less invasive treatment options. As part of your annual exam at Storrs Endodontics and Periodontics in Storrs, CT, digital imaging will help our team accurately diagnose and correct oral health conditions.

What to Expect with Digital X-rays
Generally performed at the start of your appointment, digital imaging takes around 5 – 10 minutes to complete. Many patients will have a series of x-rays to show all areas. Once they are taken, they will be uploaded and can be viewed by you and our team throughout your examination. We will be able to assess if there are any abnormalities and discuss what treatments may be needed.
