Root Canal Therapy in Storrs, CT

About Root Canal Treatment

Broken or deteriorating teeth are frequently treated with a tooth-colored filling or a different kind of replacement when they are detected and dealt with in the early stages. Nevertheless, when the bacteria spread to the core of the tooth (also referred to as the pulp), root canal therapy is potentially needed to improve oral health and prevent extraction. A root canal is an endodontic procedure performed at Storrs Endodontics and Periodontics to eradicate contaminated inner tooth tissue and close off the vulnerable tooth to return oral function. Our team treats abscessed or centrally deteriorating teeth with thorough root canal treatment and employs sedation options to further enhance patient ease. When you suffer from a painful or abscessed tooth, get in touch with our Storrs, CT office soon to hear about the upsides of specialized root canal therapy.

What to expect with a root canal

The latest solutions are employed to improve an individual's comfort during a root canal procedure. At our Storrs, CT practice, root canals are conducted with local anesthesia and may be paired with sedation services to produce enhanced relaxation. As soon as the tooth is dulled, a rubber dam is set to protect the patient's teeth and gums. The abscessed region will then be accessed through a small hole made in the top of the tooth. The pulp, the structure that makes up the nerve center and blood storage inside of each tooth, is then removed, and the region will be modified with handheld endodontic tools before being fully sterilized. Our team will then protect the treated tooth with a high-quality substance and follow that with a sedative filling to promote the rehabilitation process. The amount of oral pain you were suffering from prior to your endodontic procedure should begin to ebb away as soon as the root canal is finished. Over-the-counter pain medication can also be utilized to minimize any aches or inflammation that develop following your treatment.

I want to thank Ms. Heather T, Lexi and Dr. McIntosh for taking care of my daughter. Dr. McIntosh explained the entire process and made her feel very comfortable. She had a wonderful experience getting her root canal done. She was actually falling asleep in the chair. No pain from start to finish. Procedure was done in a timely manner. I would definitely drive from New Haven to the office again if we ever need to. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Ja'Meka 😁

I (Richard) woke up with a severe toothache on a Sunday. Monday morning my dentist was able to see me, and told me I needed a root canal. He recommended Dr Mcintosh in Storrs which is 25 miles from me; (there is another endodontist only 6 miles from my home). My dentist said if it was his tooth he would choose Dr Mcintosh. I took his advice and am so glad I did. Heather was able to get me in the next day to see Dr Mcintosh. From the moment I met Dr Mcintosh, I knew I made the right choice. He made me feel comfortable with his confidence, professional demeanor, friendliness and all-around excellent attitude. He explained everything he was doing to me. When done he gave me excellent follow up advice to make sure what he did would heal properly. NO pain or discomfort; and all in one visit! Dr Mcintosh is one of those Doctors you wish could be cloned to do everything, kind of like one stop shopping! Knowing you are in excellent hands would be so comforting. I am extremely grateful Dr Mcintosh chose to have his practice in our area, I would definitely travel an hour or more to see him if need be. I am grateful my Dentist recommended him to me. THANK YOU Dr. Mcintosh. Be well. Peace

I would highly recommend Dr. James McIntosh and Storrs Endodontics and Periodontics. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and compassionate. They truly care about the patients.I needed a root canal and after much research I called Storrs Endodontics and Periodontics. The employee who answered the phone was so nice and helped me get an appointment scheduled as a new patient. I told her I was in no rush but as time passed the tooth started to become very painful. I called and once again they were very helpful and gave me the next available appointment. Several times over the next few days I called to see if I could get in any sooner. Each time I called they were kind and compassionate and tried their best to get me an appointment ASAP.I was shocked as a new patient that they were so concerned for my wellbeing. They went above and beyond to ensure I was going to get the treatment I needed as soon as possible. Thanks to Dr. McIntosh and his staff I am pain free!!!
